Role Overview
The Head of Stores leads and manages all warehouse and inventory operations, ensuring the efficient handling, storage, and availability of materials to support plant operations. This role drives inventory optimization, enforces compliance with group standards, and ensures seamless coordination with internal stakeholders to maintain operational continuity and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily store operations, ensuring effective supervision of warehouse personnel.
- Manage the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process by collaborating with managers, engineers, and planners to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Ensure timely processing of requisitions and placement of orders to avoid stock outs and minimize overstocking.
- Maintain accurate master data records in line with agreed stock control levels set by plant management.
- Support maintenance planning by preparing and issuing spare parts for daily, weekly, and shutdown activities.
- Coordinate physical stocktaking activities in collaboration with the Accounts team according to approved schedules.
- Develop and implement spare parts strategies to optimize inventory levels and align with group-wide standards, including common stock-holding practices.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports on stock movements, outstanding requisitions, purchase orders, and critical spare parts.
- Ensure proper labeling, bin card updates, and organized storage systems to enhance traceability and inventory accuracy.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and storage practices within the stores.
- Enforce compliance with group spare parts policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Uphold environmental, health, safety, and quality standards in accordance with Heidelberg Materials policies.
- Participate actively in health and safety programs, trainings, and initiatives to maintain a safe working environment.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Plant Manager.

- Effective cost control through optimized stock levels and reduced inventory holding.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Purchasing and Supply, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in engineering, inventory management, or warehouse operations.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
