Job Title: Director, Finance & Administration (Full-Time)
Organization: National Media Commission

The National Media Commission is a public institution established to promote and ensure the freedom and independence of the media in Ghana. The Commission plays a key role in media regulation, policy development, and the promotion of high professional standards within the media landscape.

Role Overview
The National Media Commission is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance & Administration to lead and strengthen the Commission’s financial, administrative, and human resource functions. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the Commission’s overall strategic objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic input into the formulation of policies of the Commission
  • Lead the development of guidelines, processes, and systems for managing financial, human, and material resources
  • Provide expert advice on administrative and labour laws within the public service
  • Ensure efficient and effective management of financial, human, and material resources
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of human resource management information systems
  • Promote collaboration across divisions to support programme implementation
  • Lead the development, implementation, and review of administrative and HR policies, systems, and structures
  • Maintain strong and cordial management–union relationships
  • Oversee the preparation of annual financial performance reports
  • Advise management on financial laws, fiscal policies, and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations
  • Supervise the management of estates, transport, logistics, and public relations services
  • Oversee corporate programmes and ensure effective execution
  • Lead the preparation of divisional work plans, budgets, and periodic reports

Qualification and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Administration, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Membership of a relevant professional body is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role in a reputable institution
  • Demonstrated experience in public sector administration, finance, and HR management
  • Must successfully pass a competitive selection interview

In-Service Entry Requirements

  • Must meet eligibility for promotion to Director, Finance & Administration
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience at the grade of Deputy Director
  • Consistent record of satisfactory performance appraisals
  • Must successfully pass a competitive selection interview
