Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Officer
Location: Accra, Ghana
Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Officer to support and strengthen our health, safety, and environmental management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) practices across the organization.
- Support the implementation and enforcement of EHS policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
- Conduct and coordinate EHS inspections, audits, and assessments on the shop floor to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Identify safety risks, environmental concerns, and improvement opportunities, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure contractors, suppliers, and consultants comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and company standards.
- Promote accident prevention initiatives and encourage the reporting of incidents and near misses.
- Assist in accident and incident investigations by identifying root causes and monitoring corrective actions through to completion.
- Analyse incident records, including injuries, fires, spills, and property damage, and implement preventive measures where necessary.
- Support departments in conducting risk assessments and developing safe working procedures.
- Respond promptly to employee health and safety concerns and workplace emergencies.
- Assist Occupational Health & Safety Committees in implementing workplace safety initiatives.
- Monitor the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Ensure the workplace environment remains safe, clean, and compliant with environmental standards.
- Support good housekeeping practices and ensure adequate workplace amenities are maintained.
- Conduct safety inductions and EHS training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Verify compliance with safety procedures during maintenance and non-routine operational activities.
- Inspect firefighting equipment regularly and ensure periodic servicing and readiness.
- Support internal and external audits relating to Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems (EMS/OH&S).
- Monitor and follow up on audit corrective actions to ensure continual improvement and compliance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of organizational objectives.
Educational Requirement
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Safety & Health, EH&S Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a Health, Safety, and Environmental role.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of or certification in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 auditing standards will be an added advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
- Ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, and training effectively.
- Sound technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and operations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and corrective action management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Good IT proficiency and report-writing ability.
- Strong professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and business awareness.
Working Hours
- Full-time role with standard operational hours and flexibility based on business needs.
