Our Corrugated Cartons Division plays a critical role in supporting businesses with high-quality packaging solutions. To support our continued growth and operational excellence, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Supply Chain Manager / Business Planner – Corrugated Cartons to lead supply chain planning, procurement, inventory management, and logistics operations within our packaging manufacturing business.

Position Summary

The Supply Chain Manager / Business Planner will be responsible for developing and executing integrated supply chain strategies that align customer demand, production capacity, procurement activities, inventory management, and distribution operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring uninterrupted production, optimizing inventory investment, improving service levels, strengthening supplier performance, and driving operational efficiency across the corrugated carton manufacturing value chain.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Planning

Demand Forecasting

  • Analyze historical sales data, customer demand patterns, and market trends to develop accurate demand forecasts.
  • Monitor seasonal demand fluctuations, particularly within retail, manufacturing, e-commerce, and distribution sectors.
  • Continuously improve forecast accuracy through data analysis and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide demand planning insights to support strategic business decisions.

Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)

  • Lead monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings involving Sales, Production, Finance, Procurement, and Logistics teams.
  • Align customer demand forecasts with production capacity and material availability.
  • Develop integrated plans that balance customer requirements, inventory levels, and operational efficiency.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to support business objectives.

Supply Chain Risk Management

  • Identify potential supply chain risks, including paper shortages, supplier constraints, transportation disruptions, and production bottlenecks.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Monitor supply chain performance indicators and proactively address emerging risks.

Production Planning & Scheduling

Capacity Planning & Management

  • Convert sales forecasts and customer orders into detailed production schedules.
  • Optimize utilization of key manufacturing assets, including:
    • Corrugators
    • Flexographic Printers
    • Die-Cutters
    • Folder-Gluers
    • Finishing Equipment
  • Ensure efficient allocation of production resources to maximize throughput and productivity.

Lead Time Management

  • Establish realistic production and delivery lead times based on:
    • Machine capacity
    • Current production backlog
    • Raw material availability
    • Customer priorities
  • Support customer service teams with accurate delivery commitments.

Bottleneck Identification & Resolution

  • Identify capacity constraints and workflow inefficiencies.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve operational flow.
  • Implement corrective actions to improve schedule adherence and production efficiency.

Procurement & Inventory Control

Raw Material Procurement

  • Manage relationships with paper mills, paper agents, and strategic suppliers.
  • Ensure a reliable supply of kraft paper, liner board, medium paper, inks, starch, adhesives, and other production materials.
  • Support supplier negotiations to achieve optimal cost, quality, and delivery outcomes.

Inventory Optimization

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production requirements while minimizing excess inventory and working capital exposure.
  • Monitor inventory turnover, stock accuracy, and consumption trends.
  • Implement inventory planning strategies that balance service levels and cost efficiency.

Supplier Performance Management

  • Develop and manage supplier performance scorecards.
  • Monitor supplier quality, responsiveness, reliability, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with key suppliers.
  • Support supplier qualification and evaluation activities.

Logistics & Distribution Management

Transportation & Freight Management

  • Select, negotiate with, and manage transportation and freight service providers.
  • Ensure efficient inbound delivery of raw materials and outbound distribution of finished products.
  • Optimize transportation costs while maintaining service quality.

Customer Delivery Performance

  • Monitor and improve On-Time In-Full (OTIF) performance metrics.
  • Coordinate closely with production, warehousing, and logistics teams to ensure timely customer deliveries.
  • Implement initiatives that improve customer satisfaction and supply chain responsiveness.

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and monitor key supply chain performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Analyze operational data and identify opportunities to improve productivity, inventory performance, and customer service levels.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, waste elimination, and operational efficiency.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process improvement programs.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in:

  • Supply Chain Management
  • Business Administration
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Operations Management
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  • Or a related discipline from a recognized institution

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in:
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Production Planning
    • Business Planning
    • Procurement
    • Manufacturing Operations
  • Experience within corrugated carton manufacturing, packaging, FMCG, paper conversion, or high-volume manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing planning, procurement, inventory, logistics, and supplier relationships.

Professional Certifications

The following will be highly advantageous:

  • Membership of a recognized Supply Chain Management professional body.
  • APICS / ASCM Certifications.
  • CIPS Qualifications.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification.
  • Other relevant operations or supply chain certifications.
