Accounts Officer

Location: Tema, Greater Accra Region, Ghana

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized Accounts Officer to support our finance operations and ensure accurate financial management across revenue, expenditure, and statutory compliance functions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, financial recordkeeping, and regulatory obligations while supporting management with timely financial information and reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, high integrity, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable Management

  • Generate customer invoices and monitor collections.
  • Follow up on outstanding receivables and ensure timely payments.
  • Maintain accurate customer account records and ageing reports.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.

Accounts Payable Management

  • Verify supplier invoices and supporting documentation.
  • Process payments to vendors and service providers in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable records and schedules.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and address discrepancies promptly.

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Record and maintain accurate accounting entries in the accounting system.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Support the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records.

Statutory Compliance & Tax Administration

  • Prepare and facilitate timely filing of VAT, PAYE, SSNIT, Withholding Tax, and other statutory obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and financial reporting requirements.
  • Support audits by preparing schedules and providing required documentation.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors when required.

Budgeting & Financial Control

  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Assist in tracking project-related expenses and cost allocations.
  • Support internal control processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, ICA Ghana, CIMA, or part qualification) will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of Ghanaian tax laws and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
