Position Summary
The Packing Plant Supervisor will be responsible for supervising daily packing plant operations, ensuring that packing, weighing, labeling, and dispatch preparation activities are completed accurately and efficiently. The successful candidate will lead operational teams, monitor production performance, and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Packing Plant Operations
- Supervise daily packing plant activities to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations.
- Monitor packing, weighing, and labeling processes to ensure finished products meet company quality standards.
- Ensure all packaged products are accurately prepared for shipment, storage, and distribution.
- Coordinate production schedules and packing activities to achieve operational targets.
- Monitor equipment performance and ensure packing systems operate efficiently.
- Report operational issues and coordinate corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with established quality standards throughout the packing process.
- Verify the accuracy of product weights, packaging specifications, and labeling requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
- Maintain accurate production and packing records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and operational efficiency.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, supervise, and support packing plant personnel to achieve production objectives.
- Provide day-to-day coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to team members.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
- Identify training needs and support employee development initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, operational procedures, and workplace standards.
Safety & Operational Excellence
- Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across all packing plant activities.
- Ensure employees follow safe work practices and operational procedures.
- Participate in safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations when required.
- Support initiatives that improve productivity, efficiency, and workplace safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Production Technician within a cement manufacturing plant or other heavy industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of packing plant operations, production processes, and industrial equipment.
- Experience supervising production teams in a manufacturing or heavy industry setting.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures, packaging operations, and production monitoring systems.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental standards within industrial operations.
