Key Responsibilities
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
As an HSE Officer, you will:
- Identify workplace hazards and assess associated risks across operational activities.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, workplace audits, and risk assessments.
- Develop and recommend effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve workplace safety standards.
- Monitor safety performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
Safety Programme Implementation
You will:
- Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through awareness, monitoring, and improvement programmes.
- Ensure safety initiatives align with company policies, industry standards, and best practices.
- Support the implementation of safety management systems and operational controls.
Regulatory Compliance
You will:
- Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and advise management on necessary actions.
- Maintain compliance documentation and support regulatory inspections and audits.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures and recognised international safety standards.
Incident Investigation & Reporting
You will:
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Conduct root cause analyses and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate safety records.
- Monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
Training & Safety Awareness
You will:
- Develop and deliver health and safety training programmes for employees.
- Conduct safety orientations, toolbox meetings, and workplace awareness campaigns.
- Encourage employee participation in safety initiatives.
- Ensure employees understand emergency procedures, safety protocols, and workplace responsibilities.
Communication & Collaboration
You will:
- Collaborate with management, employees, contractors, and external stakeholders on HSE matters.
- Provide professional guidance and support on workplace safety issues.
- Promote open communication and employee engagement to strengthen the organisation’s safety culture.
- Support the integration of safety practices into daily business operations.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
You will:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
- Coordinate emergency drills, evacuation exercises, and safety simulations.
- Ensure emergency equipment and resources are available and properly maintained.
- Support crisis management and business continuity planning activities.
Documentation & Reporting
You will:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, incidents, training activities, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare periodic HSE performance reports and recommendations for management review.
- Ensure safety records are organised, updated, and easily accessible.
- Support continuous improvement through effective reporting and data analysis.
Qualification Required & Experience
Applicants should have:
- A Degree or Diploma in Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in a health and safety role.
- Experience within Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Construction, Professional Services, or related industries will be an advantage.
- Professional certifications in health and safety management will be an added advantage.
Required Skills & Competencies
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to identify risks and implement practical mitigation measures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with teams.
- Good physical fitness and readiness to support workplace safety activities.
