Key Responsibilities
As the Clearing Team Lead, you will:
- Lead and supervise the daily activities of the clearing team to ensure efficient and timely customs clearance of shipments.
- Coordinate import and export clearance processes while ensuring compliance with all customs regulations and statutory requirements.
- Review shipping documentation, customs declarations, permits, and other clearance documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Liaise with customs authorities, port officials, shipping lines, freight forwarders, transport providers, and regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth cargo clearance.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve clearance delays and operational challenges.
- Ensure all customs duties, taxes, and related charges are processed accurately and within required timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of clearance activities and prepare operational reports for management.
- Identify opportunities to improve clearing processes, reduce turnaround times, and enhance service delivery.
- Coach, mentor, and support team members to achieve operational targets and maintain high performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by providing timely updates and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, health and safety standards, and industry regulations.
Qualification Required & Experience
Applicants should have:
- A Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Customs Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in customs clearing, freight forwarding, or logistics operations, with supervisory experience being an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of Ghana Customs procedures, import and export regulations, and port operations.
- Experience working with customs clearance systems and logistics management software.
- Good understanding of shipping documentation and international trade procedures.
