Key Responsibilities

As the Clearing Team Lead, you will:

  • Lead and supervise the daily activities of the clearing team to ensure efficient and timely customs clearance of shipments.
  • Coordinate import and export clearance processes while ensuring compliance with all customs regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Review shipping documentation, customs declarations, permits, and other clearance documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Liaise with customs authorities, port officials, shipping lines, freight forwarders, transport providers, and regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth cargo clearance.
  • Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve clearance delays and operational challenges.
  • Ensure all customs duties, taxes, and related charges are processed accurately and within required timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of clearance activities and prepare operational reports for management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve clearing processes, reduce turnaround times, and enhance service delivery.
  • Coach, mentor, and support team members to achieve operational targets and maintain high performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by providing timely updates and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, health and safety standards, and industry regulations.

Qualification Required & Experience

Applicants should have:

  • A Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Customs Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in customs clearing, freight forwarding, or logistics operations, with supervisory experience being an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of Ghana Customs procedures, import and export regulations, and port operations.
  • Experience working with customs clearance systems and logistics management software.
  • Good understanding of shipping documentation and international trade procedures.
