Position Summary
The Shift Electrical Engineer will play a critical role in maintaining the reliability and performance of brewing and utilities equipment by leading electrical maintenance activities, supporting asset care initiatives, and driving continuous improvement across plant operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable production while maintaining the highest standards of engineering and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
As a Shift Electrical Engineer, you will:
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring full compliance with occupational health, safety, engineering, statutory, and risk management standards.
- Support the planning and execution of brewing and utilities maintenance programmes to meet operational requirements.
- Deliver engineering Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through effective maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Improve equipment reliability and plant performance by executing planned maintenance activities, shutdowns, inspections, and overhauls in collaboration with the Asset Care Maintenance Planner.
- Apply engineering best practices to strengthen asset care strategies and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in maintenance projects and site overhauls, ensuring all activities are completed safely, on time, within specification, and within budget.
- Monitor equipment performance and maintain high product quality by ensuring Right First Time (RFT) execution and compliance with quality standards.
- Investigate equipment failures and process non-conformances, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and share lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
- Manage maintenance materials, spare parts, and engineering components efficiently while maintaining accurate inventory control and accountability.
- Collaborate closely with Brewing, Utilities, Packaging, and Engineering teams to maximize equipment availability and production performance.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, technical reports, and equipment history using maintenance management systems.
- Support continuous improvement projects that enhance equipment performance, operational efficiency, and plant reliability.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in maintenance engineering within a food, beverage, brewing, FMCG, or similar manufacturing environment.
- Membership of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) or an equivalent recognized professional engineering body will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated supervisory or first-line leadership experience.
- Practical experience in preventive maintenance, asset care, and equipment reliability management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical maintenance, industrial equipment, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent understanding of preventive maintenance, asset care, and reliability engineering principles.
- Strong troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis skills.
- Effective planning, scheduling, and resource management capabilities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, networking, and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- High levels of accountability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- A commitment to safety, quality, operational excellence, and continuous learning.
