Position Summary
The Lubrication Technician will play a critical role in maximizing plant reliability and operational efficiency by executing lubrication programmes, performing condition monitoring activities, and supporting preventive maintenance initiatives. The successful candidate will help ensure that plant equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, environmental compliance, and engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
As a Lubrication Technician, you will:
- Promote a strong safety culture by complying with all Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (OHSE) standards, operational procedures, and Permit-to-Work requirements while proactively identifying and challenging unsafe conditions and practices.
- Perform condition monitoring on gearboxes, flange bearings, rotating equipment, and other mechanical assets to identify potential equipment issues.
- Inspect, replace, and maintain seals, bearings, and other lubrication-related components to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
- Support the mechanical maintenance team in executing planned preventive maintenance activities that maximize plant availability and operational efficiency.
- Implement approved lubrication schedules and ensure all assigned equipment receives the correct lubricants at the required intervals.
- Monitor equipment condition and recommend corrective maintenance actions to prevent failures and extend asset life.
- Manage lubrication materials, consumables, tools, and spare parts efficiently while maintaining accurate stock records and accountability.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns by providing technical support and collaborating with maintenance teams to restore operations quickly and safely.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and operational performance.
- Attend technical training programmes and actively share knowledge and best practices with colleagues and contractors.
- Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance records, lubrication logs, inspection reports, condition monitoring reports, and equipment documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with company standards and engineering best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in operations, maintenance, process control, or performance management within a brewery, beverage, food manufacturing, FMCG, or similar industrial environment.
- Practical experience in preventive maintenance, equipment lubrication, condition monitoring, and asset reliability.
- Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably SAP.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of lubrication systems, rotating equipment, and preventive maintenance principles.
- Good understanding of condition monitoring techniques and equipment reliability practices.
- Sound knowledge of Permit-to-Work systems, Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) policies, statutory requirements, and safe work practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate technical records and reports.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across maintenance and production teams.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and engineering best practices.
- High levels of accountability, professionalism, and integrity.
