Position Summary
Accra Marriott Hotel is seeking a skilled and proactive Electro-Mechanical Technician (Plant) to join the Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing the hotel’s electro-mechanical plant and engineering systems to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all facilities. This role requires strong technical expertise in both electrical and mechanical systems, with a commitment to preventive maintenance, operational excellence, and outstanding guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical plant equipment and building services to ensure uninterrupted hotel operations.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, including HVAC equipment, pumps, motors, generators, compressors, boilers, water treatment systems, electrical panels, and associated plant equipment.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and implement timely corrective actions to minimize equipment downtime.
- Monitor the performance and efficiency of plant equipment and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and energy efficiency.
- Conduct routine inspections and testing of engineering systems to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, equipment failures, and emergency breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, service schedules, and equipment histories.
- Ensure compliance with Marriott engineering standards, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable statutory regulations.
- Adhere to all occupational health, safety, environmental, and fire safety policies while promoting a safe working environment.
- Maintain engineering tools, testing equipment, spare parts, and workshop facilities in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Collaborate with Engineering team members and other hotel departments to support seamless hotel operations.
- Participate in energy conservation initiatives, asset improvement projects, and preventive maintenance programmes.
- Support installation, commissioning, renovation, and engineering projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma, Higher National Diploma (HND), or Bachelor’s degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Plant Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Technical certification in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Installation, Industrial Maintenance, or Plant Maintenance will be an added advantage.
- Professional membership or certification with a recognized engineering institution will be considered an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of practical experience in electro-mechanical maintenance, plant engineering, or facilities maintenance.
- Experience maintaining electrical and mechanical plant systems within the hospitality, commercial, manufacturing, or industrial sector is preferred.
- Previous experience in an international hotel environment will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, HVAC equipment, electrical distribution systems, generators, pumps, compressors, boilers, motors, and water treatment systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults efficiently.
- Good understanding of preventive maintenance practices and asset management.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards, occupational health and safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) will be an advantage.
