Accounts Officer – Full-Time

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Accounts Officer to support our finance operations and ensure accurate financial management across revenue, expenditure, and statutory compliance functions.


Position Summary

The Accounts Officer will manage core accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and statutory compliance. The role ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting, effective debt recovery, and full compliance with regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable Management

  • Generate and issue invoices for advertisements, subscriptions, events, publications, and other revenue streams.
  • Monitor customer accounts and actively follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Work closely with the Credit Controller to improve debt recovery and collections.
  • Maintain accurate records of credit sales and customer balances.
  • Prepare receivables aging reports and recommend actions for overdue accounts.
  • Resolve billing discrepancies and customer account issues promptly and professionally.

Accounts Payable Management

  • Verify invoices, purchase orders, and supporting documents before processing payments.
  • Process supplier payments accurately and within approved timelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of creditors, vendor accounts, and outstanding obligations.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procurement and payment procedures.
  • Support cash flow management by monitoring payment schedules and obligations.

Statutory Compliance & Tax Administration

  • Prepare and file statutory deductions including PAYE, SSNIT, VAT, NHIL, GETFund Levy, COVID Levy, and other applicable taxes.
  • Ensure full compliance with Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all tax filings and statutory payments.
  • Support external audits and regulatory inspections by providing required financial documentation.

Educational Requirements

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following or related fields:

  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Economics
  • Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option)

Professional Qualification

  • Part-qualified or progressing towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ICA Ghana, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Full professional certification will be an added advantage.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–4 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Experience in a fast-paced corporate environment is required.
  • Prior experience in media, publishing, professional services, or related industries is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, receivables, payables, and tax administration.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with accounting and financial management software.
  • Strong budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting skills.
  • Solid understanding of tax administration and statutory compliance.
  • Strong reconciliation and financial control capabilities.
