Position Summary
The College Vice Principal provides strategic and operational support to the Principal in the administration and management of the College. The successful candidate will contribute to institutional leadership, promote operational excellence, support policy implementation, and ensure the effective coordination of academic and administrative activities across the College.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Assist the Principal in the day-to-day administration and management of the College.
- Act on behalf of the Principal during periods of absence or as delegated.
- Coordinate the activities of academic and non-academic departments to ensure efficiency and institutional effectiveness.
- Support the implementation of decisions and policies approved by the Governing Council and Academic Board.
- Promote and uphold the College’s Christian values, faith-based ethos, and institutional culture.
- Provide leadership in institutional planning, policy implementation, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Foster collaboration among departments and stakeholders to support the achievement of the College’s strategic objectives.
- Support initiatives that enhance teaching, learning, research, innovation, and community engagement.
- Assist in maintaining discipline, accountability, and professionalism across the institution.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal in accordance with the relevant statutes and conditions of service governing Colleges of Education in Ghana.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate must:
- Be a distinguished scholar and accomplished educator with a strong record of academic achievement.
- Possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree or an equivalent terminal qualification in a relevant field of specialization.
- Hold a rank not below that of Professor or Senior Lecturer in a College of Education, university, or comparable tertiary institution.
- Have at least ten (10) years of progressive teaching and/or research experience.
- Possess a minimum of five (5) years of senior management, administrative, or leadership experience within a tertiary education institution.
- Demonstrate proven leadership and managerial competence with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
- Exhibit high moral character and a commitment to integrity, service, accountability, and excellence.
- Inspire confidence and provide effective leadership, direction, and motivation to staff and stakeholders.
- Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-management skills.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, fairness, and impartiality in decision-making.
- Have proven ability to manage institutional resources efficiently and effectively.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of Ghana’s higher education landscape, educational reforms, and national development priorities.
Terms of Appointment
- Applicants must not be more than fifty-six (56) years of age at the time of application.
- The appointment shall be for an initial period of three (3) years.
- The appointment may be renewed for one additional term only, subject to satisfactory performance and applicable regulations.
- Salary and conditions of service are attractive and comparable to similar positions within Ghana’s tertiary education sector.
