Job Purpose
The Deputy Chief Manager / Head of the Director-General’s Secretariat will provide high-level strategic, technical, and administrative support to the Director-General. The role ensures effective coordination of executive communications, policy advisory services, and governance processes while supporting decision-making and ensuring alignment with the Commission’s strategic objectives and regulatory mandate.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Lead and manage the operations of the Director-General’s Secretariat to ensure efficient executive support services.
- Coordinate the preparation of reports, briefs, and strategic documents for the Director-General.
- Review and analyze policy papers, regulatory submissions, and technical reports for executive decision-making.
- Ensure effective communication between the Director-General’s office and internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of strategic initiatives and directives from top management.
- Provide expert advisory support on matters relating to the capital market, financial sector, and broader economic environment.
- Coordinate board and executive committee documentation, agenda preparation, and follow-up actions.
- Ensure proper documentation, tracking, and management of executive decisions and correspondence.
- Liaise with departments to ensure timely submission of required reports and compliance with management directives.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure proper handling of sensitive institutional information.
- Support governance processes and ensure compliance with internal administrative procedures.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to staff within the Secretariat.
- Perform any other duties within the scope and intent of the role as may be assigned.
Educational Qualification and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited tertiary institution.
- Relevant professional qualifications and membership in good standing with a recognized professional body.
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant working experience, including at least five (5) years in a managerial position.
- Strong expertise in the legal and operational framework of the capital market and broader financial and economic sectors.
Competencies Required
The ideal candidate must demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of the capital market industry, regulatory framework, financial products, and market operations.
- Strong leadership, management, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation and facilitation abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams and motivate staff effectively.
- High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong ethical judgment and commitment to confidentiality and governance standards.
