We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Technician to join our team in Obuasi and support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
Role Purpose
The Electrical Technician will ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems, equipment, and installations across site operations. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, and ensuring uninterrupted electrical supply to support operational continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and control equipment.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical installations and equipment.
- Diagnose electrical faults and implement timely and effective repair solutions.
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Test electrical systems and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Support installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems.
- Maintain generators, motors, switchgear, control panels, and distribution systems.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Record maintenance activities, fault reports, and inspection findings accurately.
- Collaborate with mechanical teams, supervisors, and engineers to ensure operational efficiency.
- Participate in shutdowns, emergency repairs, and planned maintenance activities.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and serviceable condition.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualifications
- Technical Certificate, HND, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Maintenance, or related field.
- Electrical trade certification or licensing will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–6 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance within mining, industrial, construction, or engineering environments.
- Experience working with industrial electrical systems, motors, control panels, and power distribution systems.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults efficiently.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- High commitment to safety standards and operational discipline.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in demanding operational environments.
- Attention to detail and strong fault-finding capability.
