Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

To provide overall coordination and supervision of financial activities of the Bible Society of Ghana to ensure the integrity of financial transactions and records.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise the General Secretary on financial matters including treasury and investment management, credit control and debt management.
  • Liaise with external auditors on all statutory audits.
  • Manage the financial operations and reporting on projects and programmes of the Society.
  • Prepare and publish periodic set of accounts and make presentations to the Business Committee.
  • Manage the Society’s account including the preparation of monthly set of financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets for the BSG, monitor their implementation and prepare periodic variances.
  • Manage issues relating to tax and other statutory deductions e.g. Social Security Fund Contributions.
  • Design and implement accounting and internal control systems.
  • Supervise the department for maximum output and act as Secretary to the Business Committee.

QUALIFICATION & COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum of 1st degree in Finance & Accounting; a minimum of 8 years of work experience at Management level in either Finance or Accounting. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Chartered Accountant with membership of a recognized professional accountancy body e.g. ICA Ghana, ACCA.
  • Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles, systems and techniques.
  • A passion and deep commitment for the spreading of the word of God.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop plans to achieve organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of Companies Act 2019 (Act 992).
  • Excellent presentation skills, verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, prioritize tasks, and deliver results.
  • Demonstrated integrity, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be computer literate with high proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
