Position Summary
The Head, Information Technology will provide strategic leadership for the institution’s technology function by developing and executing innovative IT strategies that support business growth, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer experience. The successful candidate will oversee enterprise technology infrastructure, core banking systems, cybersecurity, digital platforms, and technology governance while ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proven track record of delivering technology transformation initiatives within the financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Digital Transformation
- Develop and execute the institution’s technology and digital transformation strategy.
- Align technology initiatives with business objectives and long-term organizational goals.
- Identify emerging technologies that improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Drive innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the technology function.
IT Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Oversee the performance, security, and reliability of the institution’s IT infrastructure.
- Manage core banking systems, enterprise applications, and digital banking platforms.
- Ensure high system availability, scalability, and business continuity.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and optimization of technology solutions.
Technology Projects & Innovation
- Lead enterprise-wide technology projects from planning through implementation.
- Manage strategic technology partnerships and vendor relationships.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with business requirements.
- Promote the adoption of innovative technologies that enhance operational performance.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Establish and maintain effective IT governance frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.
- Oversee cybersecurity initiatives and information security controls to safeguard organizational assets and customer data.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Information Technology team.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and business units to identify and deliver technology solutions.
- Provide strategic advice on technology investments and digital initiatives.
- Prepare management reports and present technology performance, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
Educational Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional Certifications
The following professional certifications will be an added advantage:
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
- Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies (COBIT)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- PRINCE2
- The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
- Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT)
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of twelve (12) years’ relevant experience within the financial services industry.
- At least five (5) years’ experience in a senior technology leadership role.
- Proven experience leading enterprise technology functions and digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of core banking systems, enterprise technology infrastructure, and digital financial services.
- Demonstrated success in managing large-scale technology projects and strategic technology partnerships.
- Strong understanding of IT governance, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and business continuity planning.
