Job Summary

The Law Lecturer (Senior Lecturer) actively delivers high-quality teaching, research, and academic leadership within the Faculty of Law. The role involves designing and delivering lectures, mentoring students, supervising research, and contributing to the development of the law curriculum. The successful candidate will advance academic excellence while promoting critical thinking and professional competence among students.

Key Responsibilities

The Law Lecturer will:

• Deliver lectures, tutorials, and seminars in specialized areas of law, including Constitutional Law, Commercial Law, International Law, Criminal Law, and Human Rights Law

• Develop course materials, syllabi, and assessment tools aligned with university standards

• Conduct original research, publish in reputable journals, and contribute to academic knowledge in the field of law

• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses

• Mentor, guide, and support students in academic and professional development

• Participate in curriculum development, departmental planning, and academic committees

• Engage with external stakeholders, legal institutions, and professional organizations to enhance the university’s academic profile

• Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and academic integrity

Educational Qualification & Requirements

• Senior Lecturer status in Law

• PhD in Law (LLD/PhD) from a recognized institution

• Master of Laws (LLM) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degrees

• Professional qualification (BL or equivalent) is an added advantage

• Specialization in one or more of the following areas: Constitutional Law, Commercial Law, International Law, Criminal Law, Human Rights Law

• Strong research, teaching, and communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to supervise research and mentor students
