Position Summary
The successful candidate will contribute to the College’s mission by delivering high-quality teaching, conducting impactful research, supporting curriculum development, and mentoring future educators. The Lecturer will actively participate in academic and administrative activities while upholding the College’s faith-based values and commitment to educational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Teach undergraduate courses in English Language and related subject areas.
- Prepare course outlines, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment tools.
- Assess students’ academic performance and provide timely feedback to support learning.
- Supervise student projects, teaching practice, practicum activities, and other academic engagements.
- Conduct research and publish scholarly work in reputable academic journals and other recognized outlets.
- Participate in curriculum development, review, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Serve on College committees and contribute to institutional governance and administration.
- Engage in community service, outreach programs, and professional development activities.
- Support the College’s mission, vision, and Christian values in all professional engagements.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal or Head of Department.
Educational Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in English Language, Applied Linguistics, English Education, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
OR
- A Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in English Language, Applied Linguistics, English Education, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
Applicants with an MPhil qualification are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate should:
- Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree and postgraduate qualifications in the field of specialization.
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and academic competence in English Language and related disciplines.
- Possess teaching experience at the tertiary level, which will be an added advantage.
- Show evidence of research capability and potential for scholarly publication.
- Demonstrate the ability to engage students effectively and promote active learning.
- Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Exhibit professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to academic excellence.
- Demonstrate commitment to the Christian ethos and values of the College.
Area of Specialization
Applicants should possess qualifications in one or more of the following areas:
- English Language
- Applied Linguistics
- English Education
- Related English Language disciplines
