Position Summary

The Lecturer will contribute to the College’s academic mission through teaching, research, student mentorship, departmental administration, and community service. The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality teacher education programs, supervise student research and teaching practice activities, and contribute to the continuous improvement of academic standards and institutional development.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical sessions in the assigned academic discipline.
  • Develop and update course materials in line with approved curricula and academic standards.
  • Facilitate engaging learning experiences that promote critical thinking, creativity, and professional competence.
  • Support student learning through academic advising and mentorship.

Assessment & Examination Administration

  • Prepare assignments, quizzes, tests, and examination questions.
  • Mark and assess student work in accordance with institutional policies and academic regulations.
  • Invigilate examinations and ensure adherence to examination procedures.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support academic improvement.

Research & Scholarship

  • Conduct scholarly research and contribute to knowledge creation within the relevant field of specialization.
  • Publish research findings in reputable academic journals and other scholarly outlets.
  • Participate in academic conferences, seminars, workshops, and professional development activities.
  • Contribute to the College’s research culture and academic reputation.

Student Supervision & Mentorship

  • Supervise student research projects, dissertations, and other academic assignments.
  • Guide students in the development of research skills and academic writing competencies.
  • Support the supervision and assessment of teaching practice and internship activities.
  • Provide academic and professional mentorship to students.

Academic Administration & Institutional Service

  • Assist in the administration and management of departmental activities.
  • Participate actively in committees, academic boards, and institutional initiatives.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and accreditation processes.
  • Support the implementation of College policies and strategic objectives.

Community Engagement & Professional Service

  • Participate in outreach, extension services, and community engagement activities.
  • Contribute expertise to initiatives that support educational development and national progress.
  • Represent the College professionally in academic and community-related engagements.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Principal or an authorized representative.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must:

  • Possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the relevant area of specialization.
  • Possess a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or equivalent research-based Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Have served as a Lecturer in a College of Education or a recognized tertiary institution for a minimum of two (2) years.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, research, and academic excellence.
  • Evidence of publications in reputable and peer-reviewed academic journals will be an added advantage.
