We are seeking an experienced Major Works & Class Special Survey Engineer to support the planning and execution of complex offshore maintenance and survey activities.
Position Summary
The Major Works & Class Special Survey Engineer leads and supports the planning, preparation, and execution of major maintenance campaigns, non-routine works, and class-driven scopes on offshore assets. The role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of work scopes in alignment with FPSO operational constraints, classification society requirements, and Tullow’s engineering and safety standards.
This role requires strong technical judgment, cross-discipline coordination, and a practical understanding of offshore execution challenges.
Key Responsibilities
The Major Works & Class Special Survey Engineer will:
Plan, review, and support execution of major works, non-routine maintenance, and campaign-based offshore activities.
Support Class Special Surveys and regulatory-driven scopes in coordination with classification societies and regulators (e.g. ABS).
Review and assess job plans and work packs to ensure execution readiness, constructability, and operational alignment.
Evaluate execution methodologies proposed by contractors and challenge them where required to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance.
Coordinate with offshore operations, maintenance teams, and contractors to manage SIMOPS and production constraints.
Ensure work scopes comply with applicable industry standards and codes, including API, ABS, ASME, and other recognized international standards.
Support brownfield modifications, life-extension works, and integrity-related projects on operating assets.
Monitor materials readiness, staging, and logistics to support offshore execution.
Assess manpower requirements, competencies, specialist services, and vendor support needs.
Identify and manage execution risks and recommend mitigation measures.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Tullow’s HSSE policies and offshore operating procedures.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor of Science (BSc) in an Engineering discipline or equivalent vocational qualifications.
Professional Experience
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a similar role within the offshore oil and gas industry.
Demonstrated involvement in:
Non-routine maintenance
Major works or campaign-based execution activities
Technical Knowledge and Expertise
Strong working knowledge of FPSO systems and operations, including:
Topsides
Marine systems
Utilities
Supporting infrastructure
Broad understanding of multi-discipline trade activities delivered by maintenance and execution contractors.
Proven experience supporting classification society and regulatory-driven scopes, including Class Special Surveys (ABS).
Experience in brownfield modifications and life-extension works on operating offshore assets.
Strong understanding of offshore execution constraints and operational interfaces.
