Key Responsibilities

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will:

• Receive, process, and analyze patient specimens in accordance with established laboratory procedures.
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests accurately and efficiently.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Ensure quality control procedures are followed and maintain compliance with laboratory quality management systems.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols, infection prevention measures, and ethical standards.
• Record, verify, and report laboratory results accurately and within established turnaround times.
• Maintain proper documentation and laboratory records in line with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in equipment calibration, inventory management, and stock monitoring.
• Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the laboratory.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must possess:

• A Diploma or Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of one (1) year of practical working experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Successful completion of the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) Licensure Examination.
• Valid registration and current licensing with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).
• Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of laboratory ethics, protocols, and best practices.
• Proven experience in laboratory diagnostic procedures and patient sample analysis.

• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Sound knowledge of laboratory safety standards and quality management systems.
• Proficiency in operating scientific laboratory equipment.
• Competence in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and other computer applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting strict turnaround times.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• High ethical standards, professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
