- Receive, process, and analyze patient specimens in accordance with established laboratory procedures.
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests accurately and efficiently.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Ensure quality control procedures are followed and maintain compliance with laboratory quality management systems.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols, infection prevention measures, and ethical standards.
- Record, verify, and report laboratory results accurately and within established turnaround times.
- Maintain proper documentation and laboratory records in line with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in equipment calibration, inventory management, and stock monitoring.
- Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Diploma or Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of one (1) year of practical working experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Successful completion of the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) Licensure Examination.
- Valid registration and current licensing with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of laboratory ethics, protocols, and best practices.
- Proven experience in laboratory diagnostic procedures and patient sample analysis.
Required Skills and Competencies
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong technical and analytical laboratory skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Sound knowledge of laboratory safety standards and quality management systems.
- Proficiency in operating scientific laboratory equipment.
- Competence in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and other computer applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting strict turnaround times.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- High ethical standards, professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
- An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- A copy of their valid AHPC PIN.
