We are seeking a results-oriented Mine Planning Engineer – Underground to join our team and contribute to the safe and efficient execution of underground mining operations.
Role Overview
The Mine Planning Engineer – Underground will design, plan, and optimize underground mining activities to ensure safe, cost-effective, and efficient production. The successful candidate will apply sound engineering principles, advanced mine planning software, and best-practice drill and blast techniques to support operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop short-, medium-, and long-term underground mine plans and designs.
Prepare and optimize stope designs using approved mine planning software.
Design and review underground drill and blast plans in line with best practices.
Conduct risk assessments and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Perform spreadsheet-based cash flow analysis and cost evaluations to support planning decisions.
Monitor mining performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate closely with operations, geology, and technical services teams to align production targets.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and promote a strong safety culture.
Maintain accurate documentation of designs, plans, and technical reports.
Drive company vehicles responsibly and apply defensive driving practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a mining environment, either surface or underground operations.
Strong working knowledge of underground mine planning and design best practices.
Relevant experience in surface or underground drill and blast design.
In-depth understanding of all phases of mining operations.
Proficiency in spreadsheet-based cash flow analysis.
Proven ability to lead teams and conduct risk assessments.
Demonstrated track record of implementing continuous improvement projects.
Proficiency in mine planning software such as Surpac, DataMine, EzyRings, Aegis, AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite.
Experience with 3D modeling software.
Blasting Certificate from the Minerals Commission (MINCOM).
Valid Ghanaian Driver’s License with good defensive driving skills.
