We are seeking a results-oriented Mine Planning Engineer – Underground to join our team and contribute to the safe and efficient execution of underground mining operations.

Role Overview

The Mine Planning Engineer – Underground will design, plan, and optimize underground mining activities to ensure safe, cost-effective, and efficient production. The successful candidate will apply sound engineering principles, advanced mine planning software, and best-practice drill and blast techniques to support operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop short-, medium-, and long-term underground mine plans and designs.

  • Prepare and optimize stope designs using approved mine planning software.

  • Design and review underground drill and blast plans in line with best practices.

  • Conduct risk assessments and implement effective mitigation strategies.

  • Perform spreadsheet-based cash flow analysis and cost evaluations to support planning decisions.

  • Monitor mining performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate closely with operations, geology, and technical services teams to align production targets.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and promote a strong safety culture.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of designs, plans, and technical reports.

  • Drive company vehicles responsibly and apply defensive driving practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a mining environment, either surface or underground operations.

  • Strong working knowledge of underground mine planning and design best practices.

  • Relevant experience in surface or underground drill and blast design.

  • In-depth understanding of all phases of mining operations.

  • Proficiency in spreadsheet-based cash flow analysis.

  • Proven ability to lead teams and conduct risk assessments.

  • Demonstrated track record of implementing continuous improvement projects.

  • Proficiency in mine planning software such as Surpac, DataMine, EzyRings, Aegis, AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite.

  • Experience with 3D modeling software.

  • Blasting Certificate from the Minerals Commission (MINCOM).

  • Valid Ghanaian Driver’s License with good defensive driving skills.
