Role Overview

The News Editor actively leads the editorial process for parliamentary news coverage, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with professional standards. The role is ideal for experienced media professionals with strong editorial judgment, proficiency in modern editing tools, and the ability to manage newsroom operations effectively.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, edit, and produce high-quality news content for parliamentary broadcasts and publications

  • Supervise and coordinate newsroom operations, including journalists, reporters, and production staff

  • Ensure all news content adheres to editorial standards, accuracy, and ethical guidelines

  • Edit video content using non-linear editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, or Final Cut Pro

  • Collaborate with production teams to meet deadlines and maintain broadcast quality

  • Monitor news trends and recommend innovative storytelling approaches

  • Mentor junior editorial staff and provide guidance on content development and newsroom best practices

  • Contribute to strategic planning and development of news coverage initiatives


Qualifications & Requirements

  • First Degree in English, Media, Journalism, or a related field from an accredited university

  • Minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant subject area and professional experience as a TV News Editor preferred

  • Proficiency in non-linear editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, or Final Cut Pro)

  • Strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and storytelling skills

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication abilities

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
