Job Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical, proactive, and detail-oriented professional to join our team as Officer I, Risk Management. The successful candidate will support the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Commission’s risk management framework while promoting a strong culture of risk awareness and compliance across the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities within a professional regulatory environment.

Major Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and implementation of institutional risk management plans and risk assessment activities.
  • Assist in maintaining, updating, and monitoring the Commission’s corporate risk register.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for Risk Management Committee meetings and related activities.
  • Support the maintenance and monitoring of departmental risk profiles to ensure alignment with the corporate risk framework.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting Risk Management Committee reports and related documentation.
  • Promote risk awareness and contribute to strengthening a proactive risk culture across the Commission.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and business planning initiatives within the Unit.
  • Support research and survey activities while ensuring projects are delivered within approved budgets and timelines.
  • Assist in conducting risk analysis, including financial, operational, and business continuity risk assessments.
  • Participate in the training, mentoring, and development of Risk Officers and staff.
  • Support the integration of emerging risk management tools, methodologies, and best practices into organizational operations.
  • Assist in research activities and contribute to the preparation of policy briefs, reports, and analytical papers.
  • Perform other duties within the scope and objectives of the role as assigned from time to time.

Educational Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum of a First Degree in Enterprise Risk Management, Mathematics, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited tertiary institution.
  • Relevant professional qualification or training in progress will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ relevant working experience in Risk Management.

Competencies Required

  • Strong understanding of the capital market industry, regulatory framework, financial products and services, and the role of market participants.
  • Good knowledge of legal and operational frameworks relating to Risk Management.
  • Strong understanding of emerging trends within the financial services industry and business continuity concepts.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and review skills.
  • Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and trustworthiness.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines effectively.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to accountability and continuous improvement.
