Job Summary
AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is seeking a diligent and proactive Plant Operator to join our team in Obuasi. The successful candidate will ensure efficient plant operations, maintain high safety and environmental standards, and support production targets while contributing to continuous process improvement.
Key Accountabilities
- Assess risks for all tasks and implement controls before and during execution
- Report and investigate all incidents, ensuring corrective actions are completed promptly
- Implement assigned corrective actions and ensure timely completion
- Comply with environmental management, legal, and company requirements to prevent pollution
- Identify and report environmental deviations, unsafe practices, and make suggestions for improvement
- Follow established procedures for incidents and report immediately to the Supervisor
- Achieve throughput targets and minimize downtime during shifts
- Operate mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely to prevent unnecessary damage or wear
- Manage production consumables (e.g., reagents) efficiently to control costs and prevent waste
- Prepare, mix, and dose reagents accurately; record chemical stock levels to avoid outages
- Monitor plant operations, identify potential process upsets, and alert supervisors as needed
- Complete and analyze shift log sheets to support continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Senior High School Certificate with strong mathematics background
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of industrial or process plant experience
Technical Competencies
- Ability to record detailed plant log sheets and reports
- Safe operation of plant equipment
- Knowledge of chemical hazards and safe handling practices
- Understanding of plant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics
- Ability to follow routine, time-sensitive, and potentially repetitive tasks
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
