Job Title: Program Accountant

SOS Children’s Villages International is a child-focused organization dedicated to ensuring the well-being, protection, and development of children and young people. In Ghana, we implement impactful programs that support children, families, and communities. We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Program Accountant to strengthen financial management and support program effectiveness at our Tamale Program Location.

Role Overview:
The Program Accountant will manage program-level financial operations, ensure compliance with financial policies, and support program teams with accurate and timely financial information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain bank registers for the Tamale Program Location.

  • Compile and review bank reconciliation statements in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Manage and maintain the School Master records.

  • Review all payment requests, vouchers, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Conduct random cash counts and prepare required documentation, including thank-you letters, within the month.

  • Review financial records for all projects within the Tamale Program Location prepared by Finance Officers and Program Administrative Assistants.

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and donor requirements.

  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports to support program planning and impact.

Educational & Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

  • A professional accounting qualification is an added advantage.

  • Strong ability to align financial management with program objectives and organizational strategy.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and supervise finance and support staff.

  • Capacity to support and strengthen the financial management skills of Finance Officers and Program Administrative Assistants.

  • Ability to deliver accurate, timely, and reliable financial outputs that support program impact.
