Role Purpose
The Project Accounts Coordinator – ASEYE provides effective financial management and accounting support to ensure the project’s resources are used efficiently, transparently, and in full compliance with Plan International and donor requirements. The role supports sound financial planning, reporting, and controls while enabling smooth project implementation and informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Accounting
Manage day-to-day project accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
Maintain proper financial documentation and filing systems in line with organizational and donor standards.
Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets and flag variances for corrective action.
Budgeting and Financial Planning
Support the preparation, review, and revision of project budgets and forecasts.
Provide financial analysis and updates to the Project Manager to support effective planning and decision-making.
Ensure funds are allocated and utilized in line with approved work plans.
Donor Compliance and Reporting
Prepare high-quality financial reports for donors, partners, and internal stakeholders in accordance with agreed timelines.
Ensure compliance with donor regulations, grant agreements, and Plan International financial policies.
Support audits, reviews, and financial spot checks by providing accurate records and timely responses.
Partner Financial Support and Capacity Strengthening
Provide financial oversight and support to project partners, including review of financial reports and expenditure documentation.
Build partner capacity on basic financial management, reporting, and compliance requirements where necessary.
Conduct periodic field visits to verify financial records and strengthen accountability.
Coordination and Controls
Work closely with program supply chain, and operations teams to ensure integrated financial management.
Strengthen internal controls and contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes.
Identify financial risks and support the implementation of mitigation measures.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education and Professional Qualifications
University degree in Accounting or a related field.
Professional qualification: ICA Ghana (Part 2), ACCA Foundation (Part 1 & 2), or an equivalent qualification.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar finance or grants accounting role.
Experience working on donor-funded or multi-partner projects is a strong advantage.
Proven knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and donor compliance.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Physical Environment
The role is based in Ho, with regular travel (approximately 40%) to project locations and partner institutions within the project operational areas. The position requires close collaboration with project teams, partners, and finance colleagues to ensure effective financial oversight and support.
Level of Contact with Children
Low contact – the role involves no or very limited direct interaction with children. All work must fully comply with Plan International’s safeguarding policies and standards.
