As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Pump Operator – Underground to join our operations team in Obuasi.

Role Purpose

The Pump Operator – Underground will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining underground pumping systems to ensure effective water management and uninterrupted mining operations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining safe working conditions and supporting operational efficiency underground.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate underground pumping equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company procedures and safety standards.
• Monitor pump performance, water levels, pressure systems, and flow rates to ensure continuous operation.
• Conduct routine inspections of pumps, pipelines, valves, and associated equipment.
• Identify and report equipment faults, leaks, or operational abnormalities promptly.
• Perform basic maintenance and assist maintenance teams during repairs and servicing activities.
• Maintain accurate operational records, inspection reports, and shift logs.
• Ensure underground water management systems function effectively to prevent flooding and operational disruptions.
• Follow all mine safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training programs.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards within assigned work areas.
• Collaborate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other operational teams.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Qualifications

• Minimum Senior High School Certificate, Technical Certificate, or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant technical or vocational training in mechanical operations, mining operations, or related disciplines will be an advantage.

Experience

• Previous experience operating underground pumps or related mining equipment is preferred.
• Experience working within underground mining operations will be highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with pumping systems, dewatering operations, and basic mechanical equipment maintenance.

• Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively under challenging underground conditions.
