ACCRA TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY (ATU)

1. About Accra Technical University

Accra Technical University (ATU) is a public tertiary institution established under the Technical Universities Act, 2016 (Act 922). As part of its commitment to strengthening governance and administrative effectiveness, the University invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Registrar.

2. The Position

The Registrar serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and leads the management of the University’s administrative systems. The Registrar supports the Vice-Chancellor, advises the University Council, and coordinates the work of statutory committees. Through proactive leadership, the Registrar fosters a welcoming, efficient, and service-oriented environment for staff, students, and stakeholders.

3. Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must:

• Hold a minimum of a Master’s degree, preferably in Administration, Management, or a related field, from a recognized institution.

• Have served as a Deputy Registrar in a University or in a comparable senior administrative role in a similar institution or organization for at least six (6) years.

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of university administration, governance frameworks, and public-sector regulations.

• Show proven leadership, organizational ability, and effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Uphold high standards of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

  4 Terms of Appointment

  • The University appoints the Registrar in accordance with the Technical Universities Act, 2016 (Act 922) and the Statutes of Accra Technical University.

  • The appointment runs for an initial term of four (4) years and may be renewed once for a further four (4) years, subject to satisfactory performance and the statutory retirement age of sixty (60) years.

  • The University Governing Council determines salary and conditions of service, ensuring they remain comparable to those in similar universities in Ghana.

    5. How to Apply

    • A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae, including the names and email addresses of three (3) referees who can attest to the candidate’s suitability;

    • A statement of not more than five (5) pages (Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing) outlining the candidate’s vision for the Office of the Registrar and strategies for implementation.
