Position Summary
As Technical Advisor – Financial Sector Development, you will provide strategic and technical expertise to strengthen financial sector systems and improve access to finance for businesses. You will design and implement innovative financial sector development initiatives, support sustainable finance solutions, and collaborate with key stakeholders to enhance market-based financial instruments and investment readiness.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
Provide technical advisory services in financial sector development, with a strong focus on improving access to finance for businesses.
Design, manage, and monitor project activities in line with programme objectives and GIZ standards.
Facilitate investment readiness processes, deal structuring, and matchmaking between financial institutions and businesses.
Conduct financial analysis, project appraisal, and assess the suitability of financial instruments such as loans and blended finance tools.
Support the development and implementation of sustainable finance strategies and policies.
Engage and coordinate with financial institutions, regulators, private sector actors, development partners, and other stakeholders.
Identify opportunities to strengthen financial ecosystems and promote innovative financing mechanisms.
Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, and knowledge products to support programme implementation and learning.
Required Qualifications and Experience
You bring:
A university degree in Economics, Finance, or a comparable field.
At least 7 years of professional experience in a comparable position.
At least 5 years of professional experience in project management.
At least 5 years of experience working in the financial sector or in financial sector development, with a strong focus on facilitating access to finance for businesses (e.g., investment readiness, deal structuring, matchmaking).
Strong understanding of business finance, including project appraisal, financial analysis, and structuring and application of financial instruments (e.g., loans).
Solid knowledge of sustainable finance policies, key stakeholders, and international good practices.
You demonstrate strong analytical skills, stakeholder engagement capability, and the ability to work independently within multidisciplinary teams.
