Position Summary

The Technical Assistance Manager leads the design, management, and delivery of technical assistance (TA) programs that support funds and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The role focuses on building institutional capacity, strengthening investment readiness, and enhancing ESG, gender, and impact practices across client and partner portfolios.

The Technical Assistance Manager works closely with investment teams, development partners, and fund managers to ensure TA resources deliver measurable, high-quality outcomes aligned with donor and investor objectives.


Key Responsibilities

The Technical Assistance Manager will:

  • Design, manage, and deliver technical assistance and capacity-building programs for funds and SMEs across Sub-Saharan Africa.

  • Develop TA strategies and workplans aligned with investment objectives, donor requirements, and impact goals.

  • Lead the implementation of enterprise support interventions, including governance, financial management, ESG, gender, and operational strengthening.

  • Coordinate consultants, service providers, and implementing partners to ensure timely and high-quality TA delivery.

  • Manage TA budgets, contracts, and reporting in compliance with donor and partner requirements.

  • Collaborate with investment and advisory teams to align TA with blended finance structures and investment strategies.

  • Engage effectively with development partners, DFIs, and philanthropic funders to support program design, implementation, and reporting.

  • Integrate ESG, gender-lens investing, and impact measurement principles into TA design and execution.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on TA outcomes, lessons learned, and impact results.

  • Prepare high-quality narrative and financial reports for donors, partners, and internal stakeholders.

  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Master’s degree in Development Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

Professional Experience

  • 5–7 years of experience managing technical assistance, enterprise support, or donor-funded programs.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering capacity-building interventions for funds and SMEs in Sub-Saharan Africa.

  • Proven experience working with development partners, DFIs, and philanthropic funders.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong familiarity with blended finance structures and the intersection of grant and investment capital.

  • Solid understanding of ESG, gender-lens investing, and impact measurement principles.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and reporting skills.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and partners.
