Position Overview

The Underground Pump Attendant is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of underground pumping systems. The role ensures effective water management and supports operational continuity in underground mining operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the team and stakeholders to maintain high standards of safety, performance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain underground pumping systems to ensure continuous water management.

• Apply MINCOM Operator Competency in daily operations.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate pumping activities and address operational challenges.

• Communicate effectively with key stakeholders to report issues, progress, and performance metrics.

• Maintain a safe working environment and comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency through proactive problem-solving.

Educational Requirements

• Completion of WASSCE or equivalent is essential.

• A trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, plant operation, or a related field is highly desirable.

Experience & Knowledge

• Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in pump operation.

• Underground mining experience is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of water management and pumping activities.

• MINCOM Operator Competency is an advantage.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with business partners and stakeholders.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Sound understanding of operational safety, monitoring, and maintenance practices.
