Critical Care Nurse (Full-Time, Permanent)

Location: Accra
Company: Sweden Ghana Medical Centre
Department: Clinical
Reports To: Medical Director
Working Hours: Monday – Friday (Occasional weekend emergency duties may be required)

Job Purpose

The Critical Care Nurse delivers specialized, high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients. The role ensures clinical excellence, patient safety, and adherence to established medical protocols while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive critical care nursing services in accordance with clinical standards and best practices.

  • Monitor, assess, and document patients’ conditions and respond promptly to changes.

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.

  • Operate and monitor advanced life-support and critical care equipment.

  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

  • Ensure strict compliance with infection prevention and control protocols.

  • Support emergency response situations, including occasional weekend emergencies.

  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the Clinical Department.


Educational & Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing (required).

  • Registered with the National Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).

  • Approved certification in Critical Care Nursing.

  • Experience working in Theatre as a Scrub Nurse is an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
