We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Chief Mechanic (Auto Mechanical Engineer) to lead our fleet maintenance operations in Accra.


Job Summary

We are looking for a highly experienced Auto Mechanical Engineer to lead the maintenance and repair of our hauling fleet, including trucks and trailers. You will ensure optimal vehicle performance, minimize downtime, enforce safety standards, and oversee all workshop operations. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and strategic planning skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all maintenance and repair activities for the company’s hauling fleet, including trucks and trailers.

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults accurately and develop effective repair plans.

  • Supervise, train, and manage workshop technicians to ensure high performance and efficiency.

  • Implement structured preventive maintenance programs to reduce breakdowns and extend vehicle lifespan.

  • Ensure all vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.

  • Manage spare parts inventory, oversee procurement, and control maintenance budgets.

  • Source durable and cost-effective local parts suitable for rugged operating conditions.

  • Develop systems that minimize fleet downtime and maximize operational readiness.

  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and generate periodic performance reports.

  • Enforce strict safety procedures within the workshop environment.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Auto Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of twenty (20) years of relevant experience in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.

  • Demonstrated expertise in maintaining and repairing DAF, MAN, and HOWO trucks.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Proven experience working with hauling fleets under rugged operating conditions.

  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and workshop management.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.

  • High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to safety standards.
