The National Media Commission (NMC) is a constitutional body mandated to promote and safeguard media freedom, independence, and responsible journalism in Ghana. The Commission plays a central role in regulating media standards, enhancing professionalism, and strengthening the relationship between the state, media organizations, and the public.


Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director, Corporate Affairs to lead the Commission’s communications, public relations, and stakeholder engagement functions. The successful candidate will shape and implement corporate communication strategies, strengthen the Commission’s public image, and ensure effective engagement with media stakeholders locally and internationally.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of short-term and long-term communication strategies for the Commission.
  • Design and execute public relations strategies that enhance the corporate image of the Commission.
  • Oversee the implementation of all public relations and corporate communications activities.
  • Develop and promote best-practice media engagement strategies to strengthen institutional reputation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the media industry, both locally and internationally.
  • Coordinate the preparation of corporate communications and public relations reports for management.
  • Conduct regular media landscape analysis, including print and electronic media publications.
  • Supervise, mentor, and appraise the performance of staff within the Corporate Affairs unit.
  • Ensure effective media monitoring, reporting, and strategic communication support to leadership.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Membership in the Institute of Public Relations (Ghana or equivalent).

Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience in a reputable organization.
  • For in-service applicants:
    • Must currently hold the rank of Principal Corporate Affairs Manager.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience at the level of Senior Corporate Affairs Manager.
    • Must have satisfactory performance appraisal records.
  • All applicants must pass a competitive selection interview.

  • Fluency in English; knowledge of an additional international language (preferably French) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with the operations of the National Media Commission.
