Role Purpose

The Mechanic – Engineering ensures the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems within the processing plant. The role supports plant availability and performance by minimizing downtime and maintaining high safety standards.


Key Accountabilities

  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols by ensuring all work permits are properly completed and lockout procedures are implemented before commencing any task.
  • Execute assigned maintenance activities within specified timeframes to support uninterrupted plant operations and production targets.
  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical components and systems to ensure optimal functionality and minimal downtime.
  • Perform routine cleaning and lubrication of machinery to enhance performance and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Monitor equipment condition and promptly report any shortages of spare parts or materials to the Foreman.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Mechanical Technician Part I & II, HND in Mechanical Engineering, or Motor Vehicle Technician Part I & II.
  • NVTI Apprenticeship certification is an added advantage.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience within the mining industry.
  • Strong knowledge of processing plant operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Medically fit and able to work in a demanding industrial environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with demonstrated ability to operate light vehicles.
