Role Purpose
The Communications and Marketing Manager leads the development and execution of EduSpots’ communications and marketing strategy, ensuring strong storytelling, brand consistency, and impactful audience engagement across all platforms.
You will drive digital communications, support fundraising campaigns, strengthen partnerships, and build the communications capacity of the organisation’s network. The role requires a creative, strategic, and hands-on professional passionate about education and community-led development.
Key Responsibilities
Communications Strategy & Content
- Lead and manage EduSpots’ communications channels, including social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X), website, and YouTube.
- Develop compelling stories, articles, and multimedia content in collaboration with staff and Catalysts across the network.
- Support the evolution and implementation of the organisation’s communications and branding strategy.
- Ensure consistent messaging, tone, and visual identity across all platforms.
Network Engagement & Capacity Building
- Work closely with regional coordinators to strengthen local communications strategies.
- Lead initiatives such as “Comms Mondays” to build engagement and consistency across the network.
- Develop and deliver a communications curriculum integrated into leadership programmes.
- Mentor and line manage communications team members, including interns and peer mentors.
Media Relations & External Engagement
- Write press releases and build relationships with media houses to amplify organisational impact.
- Identify and engage “Media Champions” to support advocacy and visibility efforts.
- Lead communications for events, including photography, videography, and content creation.
Fundraising & Campaign Communications
- Support communications for key fundraising initiatives, including campaigns and milestone events.
- Ensure compliance with donor branding and communication requirements.
Marketing & Partnerships
- Support marketing efforts for digital learning initiatives, including online courses and WhatsApp-based learning programmes.
- Promote corporate partnerships, individual giving initiatives, and broader partnership engagement.
Programme Support & Digital Skills Education
- Provide communications and administrative support for programmes such as EduBytes.
- Contribute to digital skills development initiatives within the organisation’s network.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ progressive experience in communications and marketing, preferably within the non-profit or development sector.
- Proven experience managing brand identity, messaging, and digital communication platforms.
- Strong experience in social media management, digital marketing, and content creation.
- Experience in media relations and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience managing or mentoring team members to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Experience in fundraising campaigns and partnerships is an advantage.
- A degree in Communications, Marketing, Education, or a related field is an advantage but not required.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in digital tools such as Canva, Google Workspace, CapCut, Hootsuite, and Mailchimp.
- Strong content creation skills (writing, design, video editing).
- Ability to analyse engagement data and optimise communications strategies.
- High level of digital literacy and adaptability to new tools and platforms.
