Job Summary
The General Manager, Technology Projects Implementation will provide strategic leadership and end-to-end accountability for the execution of capital technology projects that drive network modernization, transformation, and commercial readiness. The role ensures efficient, safe, and large-scale delivery of network investments that support business growth, customer experience excellence, and long-term competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Translate corporate and network strategies into multi-year implementation roadmaps across radio, core, transmission, IP fibre, cloud, OSS/BSS, and IT domains.
- Provide technical authority on network deployment decisions, architecture standards, and implementation trade-offs.
- Prioritize network projects based on business value, coverage expansion, capacity demand, and revenue impact.
- Lead the execution of technology evolution initiatives including 5G, fibre densification, virtualization, and automation.
- Ensure readiness of network infrastructure for new products, services, and digital solutions.
- Strengthen project governance frameworks and build organizational delivery capability.
Financial & Investment Management
- Account for CAPEX and operational expenditure related to technology project implementation.
- Ensure optimal return on network investments through disciplined execution and cost control.
- Approve and validate technical feasibility, rollout timelines, and cost structures for business cases.
- Drive vendor performance management against cost, quality, and delivery commitments.
- Identify and implement cost optimization and asset-sharing opportunities.
Operational Delivery
- Own end-to-end delivery of all technology implementation projects from planning to handover.
- Define and enforce delivery standards, KPIs, SOPs, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Manage project risks, dependencies, and critical path execution across portfolios.
- Oversee seamless transition from project delivery to operations to minimize service disruption.
- Drive continuous improvement in deployment speed, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Introduce modern project delivery methodologies, automation tools, and performance systems.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory, environmental, safety, and site-access requirements.
- Develop and enforce risk management frameworks across all project streams.
- Approve technical designs, deployment approaches, and major change requests.
- Ensure alignment with global MTN Group standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee testing, acceptance, certification, and resilience of deployed infrastructure.
- Manage crisis response for critical deployment or network rollout incidents.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
- Serve as the primary interface between technology implementation teams and internal/external stakeholders.
- Manage strategic relationships with OEMs, vendors, contractors, regulators, and infrastructure partners.
- Provide executive reporting on project status, risks, and mitigation actions.
- Support regulatory engagement related to deployment approvals and compliance timelines.

Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or related discipline.
- Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent).
- Agile/Scrum certification is an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in telecommunications, technology, or customer experience management.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale technology or infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing multi-vendor and multi-site network deployments.
- Strong background in CAPEX management and project governance.
