Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and proactive School Counselor to support the emotional, academic, social, and career development of students. The successful candidate will provide counseling services, implement student support initiatives, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and school leadership to promote student well-being and success.
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to create a safe and supportive environment for students.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support
- Provide individual and group counseling to support students facing emotional, behavioral, social, or personal challenges.
- Assist students in managing issues such as stress, bullying, trauma, peer relationships, and emotional well-being.
- Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment.
Academic Guidance
- Support students with goal setting, study skills, academic planning, and personal development strategies.
- Identify students requiring academic or behavioral interventions and collaborate on support plans.
- Monitor student progress and provide guidance to improve academic performance and engagement.
Career Counseling
- Conduct assessments to help students identify strengths, interests, talents, and career aspirations.
- Provide guidance on academic pathways, career planning, and post-secondary opportunities.
- Organize career-related workshops, counseling sessions, and developmental activities.
Crisis Intervention & Collaboration
- Respond effectively to student crises and provide immediate emotional support when necessary.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school leadership to implement intervention strategies and student support programs.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional counseling standards.
Preventive Education & Wellness Programs
- Develop and facilitate workshops on mental health awareness, drug abuse prevention, healthy relationships, emotional intelligence, and student wellness.
- Promote positive behavior, resilience, and social-emotional learning initiatives within the school community.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in School Counseling or Counseling Psychology will be an added advantage, especially for secondary or international school settings.
- Strong understanding of counseling ethics, mental health support, and student welfare practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
- Strong computer literacy and administrative skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators.
- High level of professionalism, empathy, confidentiality, and emotional intelligence.
