Position Summary
Bolgatanga Technical University is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and results-driven Accountant to support the University’s financial management operations. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, effective budgeting, compliance with financial regulations, and efficient use of institutional resources.
This role requires strong analytical ability, professional accounting expertise, and the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial records and reports in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, financial regulations, and audit requirements.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Monitor and reconcile financial transactions and bank accounts.
- Support internal and external audit processes and implement audit recommendations.
- Maintain and operate accounting software systems and ensure data accuracy.
- Assist in financial analysis to support management decision-making.
- Ensure efficient financial documentation, filing, and record-keeping systems.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants seeking appointment as Accountant must:
- Be a Chartered Accountant and possess a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Have served as an Assistant Accountant in a university or comparable institution for at least two (2) years.
- Be proficient in the use of accounting software and financial management systems.
- Be computer literate with strong knowledge of financial applications and tools.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively.
- Possess the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
