Position Summary
BURN is seeking a highly organized, analytical, and results-driven Carbon Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, implementation, and reporting of carbon-related field research and monitoring activities. The successful candidate will oversee field surveys, carbon audits, performance testing, and stakeholder engagement activities that support the successful implementation and verification of carbon projects.
This role requires strong project management skills, experience coordinating field operations, and a passion for sustainability, climate action, and clean cooking solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Carbon Project Implementation
- Lead the planning, coordination, execution, and reporting of Baseline Surveys and Baseline Kitchen Performance Tests in accordance with Carbon Technical Team guidelines.
- Develop project plans, timelines, resource requirements, and implementation schedules for field activities.
- Ensure all project activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with established carbon methodologies and standards.
Field Research & Survey Management
- Organize and oversee Annual Monitoring Surveys, Kitchen Performance Tests, Leakage Surveys, and Water Boiling Tests.
- Coordinate field data collection activities and ensure data quality and accuracy.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate data collectors, enumerators, and research consultants.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures for field operations.
- Resolve operational challenges promptly to ensure successful project delivery.
Logistics & Operational Coordination
- Plan and manage all logistics related to field surveys and carbon project activities.
- Coordinate transportation, accommodation, equipment, and field resources.
- Ensure efficient deployment of personnel and materials required for project implementation.
- Travel within Ghana and internationally when required to support project activities.
Carbon Audit Management
- Coordinate all logistics and preparations for carbon project validation and verification audits.
- Organize household selection, scheduling, and preparation for auditor visits.
- Accompany auditors during field verification activities and facilitate stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements and project standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with BURN country representatives and project stakeholders.
- Support country teams in understanding and meeting carbon project requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication between field teams, technical teams, and project leadership.
- Promote collaboration to ensure timely delivery of project objectives.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Prepare timely project reports and communicate progress against agreed goals and targets.
- Analyze field data and provide recommendations to improve project performance.
- Report findings, challenges, and opportunities to the Carbon Project Implementation Manager.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the carbon project portfolio.
Special Assignments
- Undertake additional carbon-related projects and assignments as required.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives that support BURN’s sustainability and carbon objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Sustainability, Project Management, Engineering, Statistics, Business, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Experience managing field-based research, monitoring, evaluation, or carbon-related projects.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating surveys, audits, data collection activities, or community-based projects.
- Experience working within sustainability, clean energy, climate, carbon, or development sectors will be an advantage.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively as required.
