We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our team and support the effective sourcing and procurement of goods, materials, equipment, and services required for our operations.

Role Overview

As a Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for managing procurement activities, coordinating with suppliers and internal departments, negotiating favorable purchasing terms, and ensuring the timely delivery of required materials and services.

This role is ideal for a procurement professional who possesses strong organizational skills, excellent negotiation abilities, and a commitment to maintaining efficient purchasing processes.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Source and procure goods, materials, equipment, and services required to support business operations.
  • Obtain, evaluate, and compare supplier quotations to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contractual conditions with suppliers.
  • Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely processing and approval.
  • Monitor purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier databases, quotations, contracts, and approval documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement requirements and support operational needs.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and approval processes.
  • Support the resolution of supplier-related issues, including delivery delays, quality concerns, and documentation discrepancies.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Assist in supplier evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

You should possess:

  • An HND or Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Procurement
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Business Administration
    • Engineering
    • Or a related field

Experience

You should have:

  • A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain management, or a related function.
  • Practical experience managing supplier relationships and procurement documentation.
  • Exposure to sourcing, purchasing, and procurement processes within a structured business environment.

Preferred Experience

The following will be an added advantage:

  • Experience in engineering, construction, mining, industrial, manufacturing, or technical procurement environments.
  • Familiarity with procurement of technical equipment, spare parts, industrial materials, or engineering services.
