Position Summary
The Regional Project Coordinator will oversee the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project activities within the assigned region. The successful candidate will work closely with farmers, irrigation schemes, government institutions, community leaders, development partners, and carbon market stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of project objectives while maintaining compliance with donor, environmental, and carbon certification requirements.
This role requires strong project management expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, agricultural development experience, and a commitment to sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Implementation
- Coordinate and oversee all project activities within the assigned region.
- Ensure implementation aligns with approved work plans, budgets, project timelines, and carbon certification standards.
- Support the adoption of Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD), climate-smart agriculture, regenerative agriculture, and sustainable rice farming practices.
- Facilitate project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
- Track project progress and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure project milestones and deliverables are achieved within established timelines.
Farmer Mobilization & Capacity Building
- Mobilize and engage rice farmers, Water User Associations (WUAs), farmer groups, community leaders, and other key stakeholders.
- Organize and facilitate training programs, field demonstrations, workshops, and farmer learning activities.
- Build farmer capacity in sustainable agriculture, water management, soil health improvement, and climate-smart farming techniques.
- Promote farmer participation, ownership, and long-term adoption of project interventions.
- Support the development of strong farmer networks and community engagement platforms.
Monitoring, Data Collection & Carbon Accounting
- Coordinate field data collection and quality assurance processes.
- Monitor project indicators, including:
- Soil Organic Carbon (SOC)
- Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Reductions
- Water Use Efficiency
- Crop Yield Performance
- Farm Management Practices
- Support the deployment and effective use of digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems.
- Facilitate the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of AWD tubes, sensors, and other field technologies.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and reliable data collection to support carbon accounting, verification, and reporting requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
- Build and maintain productive relationships with:
- Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA)
- District Assemblies
- Traditional Authorities
- Farmer Organizations
- Community Leaders
- Development Partners
- Carbon Market Stakeholders
- Represent the project during stakeholder meetings, technical discussions, and regional engagements.
- Strengthen collaboration among stakeholders to improve project implementation and sustainability.
- Support partnership development and stakeholder coordination initiatives.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate project records, databases, and field documentation.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports.
- Document project achievements, lessons learned, success stories, and implementation challenges.
- Ensure reporting complies with donor requirements and project standards.
- Support project learning, knowledge management, and information-sharing activities.
Compliance, Verification & Risk Management
- Support project validation, verification, carbon auditing, and certification processes.
- Prepare documentation required by auditors, validators, certification bodies, donors, and project partners.

- Identify implementation risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
- Resolve operational challenges and recommend continuous improvement measures.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to field officers, enumerators, community facilitators, and project support staff.
- Monitor staff performance and provide coaching and technical support.
- Ensure quality implementation of field activities and achievement of project objectives.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a results-oriented project culture.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Agriculture
- Agronomy
- Environmental Science
- Natural Resource Management
- Climate Change
- Agricultural Engineering
- Rural Development
- Or a related discipline
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant field will be a strong advantage.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in:
- Agricultural Development
- Climate Change Projects
- Rural Development Programs
- Natural Resource Management
- Environmental Sustainability Initiatives
- Demonstrated experience working with:
- Farmer Groups
- Agricultural Cooperatives
- Irrigation Schemes
- Community-Based Development Projects
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly advantageous:

Travel Requirements
This role requires extensive travel within assigned project communities, irrigation schemes, and stakeholder locations across the designated region.
