Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Finance to lead General Ledger (GL) operations and statutory reporting activities across the region. The successful candidate will ensure financial integrity, regulatory compliance, robust internal controls, and timely financial reporting while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement within the finance function.

The role requires a strong technical accounting background, leadership capability, and extensive experience operating within multinational environments.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting Leadership
- Lead and oversee general ledger accounting activities across the region, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure the preparation and filing of statutory financial statements in compliance with IFRS, local GAAP requirements, and country-specific regulations.
- Manage the end-to-end statutory reporting calendar for multiple legal entities, coordinating timelines with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring proper ownership, aging analysis, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Oversee intercompany accounting activities, including reconciliations, confirmations, and elimination support to ensure consistency with group reporting requirements.
- Ensure the consistent application of accounting policies and alignment with Group accounting standards across all entities.
Compliance, Governance & Controls
- Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, regulators, and local authorities, ensuring smooth audit execution and timely resolution of audit findings.
- Monitor compliance with local statutory obligations, including regulatory filings, disclosures, and board-approved financial statements.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, new accounting standards, and regulatory developments affecting statutory and GL reporting.
- Strengthen and maintain effective internal controls, governance frameworks, and financial reporting processes.
Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership
- Collaborate closely with Tax, Treasury, FP&A, and Group Finance teams to ensure alignment between statutory, management, and consolidated reporting requirements.
- Support business initiatives by providing financial insights and ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization and external regulatory bodies.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Lead, mentor, and develop the regional GL and statutory reporting team, fostering accountability, professional growth, and high-performance standards.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and control enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting timeliness.
- Champion best practices and support finance transformation initiatives across the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- IFRS Diploma is mandatory.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, CIMA, or equivalent) will be an advantage.
Experience
- 6–10 years of progressive experience in General Ledger operations and statutory reporting.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar leadership role within a multinational organization.
- Prior experience with a Big Four audit firm is required.
- Strong knowledge of Bank of Ghana (BoG) financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated experience managing statutory reporting across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
- Experience working in multi-currency environments is preferred.
- Exposure to finance transformation projects, ERP implementations, system upgrades, or business transitions is advantageous.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
- Sound understanding of month-end close processes, General Ledger operations, and Fixed Assets accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational capability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.
