Finance Manager (Full-Time)

Location: BBI Spintex Facility, Greater Accra, Ghana

Company Profile

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Finance Manager to provide strong financial leadership and support the continued growth and sustainability of our operations.

Position Summary

The Finance Manager will lead the Finance Department and oversee all financial, accounting, budgeting, taxation, payroll, procurement support, and compliance activities for Black Buffalo International in Ghana. The successful candidate will ensure sound financial management, strengthen internal controls, provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership, and support operational excellence across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership and Management

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and manage the Finance Department, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and financial controls.
  • Supervise and mentor the finance team to ensure high standards of performance and professional development.
  • Build productive working relationships across departments and with external stakeholders, including financial institutions, auditors, regulators, and service providers.
  • Participate actively in operational planning and support the development of production schedules from a financial perspective.

Financial Reporting and Planning

The successful candidate will:

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Develop financial forecasts, budgets, and long-term financial plans to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare financial reports and analyses for the Founder/CEO, financial advisers, banks, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations to improve efficiency, profitability, and sustainability.
  • Generate weekly financial, expenditure, and production reports for management.

Accounting Operations

The successful candidate will:

  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Ensure invoices are prepared accurately and payments are processed in accordance with company policies.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational requirements.
  • Manage petty cash and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including planning, monitoring, physical stock counts, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure the secure storage and backup of all accounting records and financial documentation.

Budgeting and Financial Analysis

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop departmental budgets in collaboration with departmental managers.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, improve operational efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Support management in making informed financial and investment decisions through robust analysis and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop long-term financial plans and organisational forecasts.

Audit, Compliance and Risk Management

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the annual external audit process and coordinate responses to audit findings.
  • Strengthen internal control systems to safeguard company assets and minimise financial risk.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, statutory regulations, and organisational policies.
  • Ensure the timely payment of taxes, statutory contributions, SSNIT obligations, and other regulatory fees.
  • Advise senior management on taxation, financial compliance, and regulatory matters.
  • Maintain effective relationships with government agencies, auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities.

Procurement and Corporate Administration

The successful candidate will:

  • Support procurement processes by reviewing purchases and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain custody of all corporate legal and business documents, including company registrations, lease agreements, licenses, and statutory records.
  • Liaise with government agencies regarding corporate registration, importation requirements, tax matters, regulatory approvals, and applicable waivers.
  • Research and recommend suitable banking solutions and maintain strong banking relationships.

Team Development and Collaboration

The successful candidate will:

  • Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and ethical conduct within the Finance Department.
  • Identify training and development opportunities that strengthen the capabilities of finance staff.
  • Collaborate closely with departmental managers to improve financial awareness and support effective decision-making across the organisation.

Education and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • A professional accounting qualification such as ICA (Ghana), ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or an equivalent qualification.
  • A Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field will be an advantage.

Experience

The successful candidate should have:

  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ progressive experience in finance or accounting, including at least three (3) years in a senior finance management role.
  • Experience within manufacturing, agribusiness, nonprofit organisations, social enterprises, or related sectors will be an advantage.
  • Proven experience managing financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, payroll, audits, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated experience working with external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk management, and financial governance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel, and accounting or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
