Position Summary
The Housekeeping Manager will oversee all housekeeping operations, ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities consistently meet the hotel’s quality and cleanliness standards. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the housekeeping team, manage daily operations, and help create an exceptional environment that exceeds guest expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping Operations
- Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping department.
- Ensure guest rooms, suites, public areas, and service areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with hotel standards and operating procedures.
- Monitor room readiness and coordinate closely with the Front Office team to support efficient guest check-ins and check-outs.
- Ensure housekeeping operations run efficiently while maintaining service excellence.
Team Leadership & Staff Development
- Supervise, motivate, and support housekeeping staff to achieve departmental objectives.
- Schedule staff and allocate resources effectively to meet operational requirements.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure staff comply with hotel policies, procedures, and service standards.
Quality Assurance & Guest Satisfaction
- Maintain high standards of guest satisfaction by ensuring exceptional cleanliness and comfort.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, concerns, and feedback.
- Monitor service quality and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Support initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall guest experience.
Inventory & Resource Management
- Monitor housekeeping supplies, linens, guest amenities, and cleaning materials.
- Ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained to support daily operations.
- Control departmental costs and minimize waste while maintaining quality standards.
- Coordinate procurement requests for housekeeping supplies and equipment as required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and materials.
- Support hotel audits and quality assurance inspections.
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate housekeeping records and operational reports.
- Monitor departmental performance and productivity metrics.
- Prepare reports and updates for management as required.
- Support budgeting and workforce planning activities within the department.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of relevant experience in housekeeping operations within a hotel, hospitality, resort, or serviced apartment environment.
- Previous supervisory or management experience within a housekeeping department is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to maintain high service and cleanliness standards.
