Role Overview
The Manager, SME Sales (Regions) will lead the execution of MTN Business SME broadband and ICT sales strategies across the southern sector of Ghana. The successful candidate will drive customer acquisition, revenue growth, market penetration, and retention while leading high-performing field sales teams and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
SME Broadband and ICT Sales Strategy & Execution
- Lead the execution of MTN Business SME broadband and ICT sales strategies across the southern sector.
- Translate national Enterprise Business Unit (EBU) sales strategies into effective regional execution plans.
- Drive customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth within the SME segment.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for Fibre broadband, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), devices, and business value-added services.
- Develop and implement annual territory and account management plans.
- Provide strategic input on product development, pricing, partnerships, and go-to-market initiatives for the SME market.
Field Sales Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, motivate, and manage field sales teams and direct supervisors.
- Set and monitor individual and team performance targets.
- Conduct daily sales huddles, weekly reviews, monthly business performance sessions, and regular field coaching activities.
- Support recruitment, deployment, performance management, and workforce planning activities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Product Sales Execution
- Drive sales of Fibre broadband solutions (FTTB and FTTH-SME), FWA services, devices, customer-premise equipment (CPE), and business value-added services.
- Ensure field teams possess current knowledge of product offerings, pricing structures, bundles, and value propositions.
- Collaborate with Solutions Engineering and Network teams to support customer site assessments and installation processes.
- Drive upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing SME accounts.
- Identify and communicate market feedback to support product enhancement and commercial decision-making.
Field Activations and Business Development
- Plan and execute targeted sales activations across business districts, industrial zones, commercial centres, and key SME hubs.
- Represent MTN Business at trade fairs, business exhibitions, industry conferences, and networking events.
- Monitor activation performance and evaluate return on investment through lead generation, conversion rates, acquisition costs, and revenue growth metrics.
Pipeline, Forecasting & Performance Management
- Manage the SME broadband and ICT sales pipeline across all sales stages.
- Analyse sales trends, territory performance, customer behaviour, and win/loss data to identify opportunities for growth.
- Ensure effective utilization of CRM platforms, sales reporting tools, and performance dashboards.
- Apply data-driven insights to improve team productivity and sales effectiveness.
Customer Engagement, Onboarding & Retention
- Support the resolution of customer escalations throughout the sales and installation journey.
- Implement customer retention strategies to sustain revenue and strengthen customer relationships.
- Collaborate with Finance teams to support debt collection efforts and maintain healthy account performance.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales Management, Telecommunications, ICT, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional sales management certification will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in B2B or enterprise sales.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory or sales management role.
- Proven experience selling broadband, ICT, telecommunications, Fibre, FWA, or fixed-data solutions to SME customers.
Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of the SME broadband and ICT market.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Fibre, FWA, devices, and business value-added services.
- Understanding of FTTB, FTTH, FWA technologies, network fundamentals, customer-premise installations, and service feasibility assessments.
- Knowledge of customer qualification, service provisioning, and account management processes.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including pricing, forecasting, revenue management, and profitability analysis.
- Expertise in territory management, field sales operations, route planning, trade marketing, and event execution.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, digital sales platforms, and business reporting tools.
- Knowledge of managing outsourced and contract sales teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate insights that support business growth and continuous improvement.
