Key Responsibilities
Dispensing & Technical Support
- Assist the Pharmacist in accurately dispensing prescriptions to clients.
- Ensure medications are correctly labeled and packaged in accordance with company procedures and professional standards.
- Prepare extemporaneous preparations under the direction and supervision of the Pharmacist.
- Maintain strict compliance with dispensing guidelines, ethical practices, and confidentiality requirements.
- Support the Pharmacist in ensuring safe and effective pharmaceutical care.
Inventory & Stock Management
- Receive, inspect, and verify deliveries of pharmaceutical products and supplies.
- Store and organize medications in accordance with FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor stock levels, update inventory records, and promptly report discrepancies or low-stock situations.
- Process returned, damaged, and expired products in line with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Contribute to maintaining optimal inventory accuracy and availability.
Customer Service
- Provide professional and courteous assistance to walk-in clients.
- Direct clients to the Pharmacist when professional consultation is required.
- Offer appropriate information on non-prescription products under the supervision of the Pharmacist.
- Promote the company’s products and services while ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through excellent service delivery.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
- Process prescriptions in accordance with Pharmacy Council regulations and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain accurate records relating to prescriptions, sales transactions, and controlled substances.
- Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of regulatory and operational standards.
Operational Efficiency & Team Support
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve daily operational goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional dispensary environment.
- Support onboarding, orientation, and mentoring activities for interns, trainees, and new team members when assigned.
- Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Pharmacy Technician/Technology from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration and practicing licence with the Pharmacy Council of Ghana.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ post-qualification experience in community or retail pharmacy practice, preferably within a multi-branch environment.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing activities.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of pharmacy operations, pharmaceutical products, and inventory management practices.
- Proficiency in Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and pharmacy management software.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and perform well under pressure.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to quality service.
