Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Utility Equipment Operator to join our operations team in Akyem, New Abirem. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating various utility and support equipment used in mining and site operations, ensuring work is completed efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Operation

• Operate utility and support equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and operational requirements.
• Support mining, construction, maintenance, and site development activities as assigned.
• Perform material handling, transportation, site preparation, and other operational tasks using designated equipment.
• Follow work schedules and operational plans to achieve productivity targets.
• Ensure equipment is used appropriately and in line with operational procedures.

Safety & Compliance

• Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Conduct pre-operational inspections and identify potential hazards before commencing work.
• Report equipment defects, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
• Participate actively in safety meetings, training programmes, and toolbox talks.
• Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the workplace.

Equipment Maintenance & Care

• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance checks.
• Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance requirements promptly.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure operational readiness at all times.
• Complete equipment inspection reports and operational logs accurately.

Operational Support

• Collaborate effectively with supervisors, engineers, maintenance personnel, and fellow operators.
• Support site logistics, road maintenance, earthmoving, material transportation, and related operational activities.
• Assist in achieving production and operational objectives through efficient equipment utilization.
• Contribute to initiatives that improve site productivity, safety, and efficiency.
• Perform additional duties assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this position, you should possess:

• An HND, Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Proven experience operating utility equipment, heavy machinery, or related equipment within mining, construction, industrial, or similar environments.
• Strong understanding of equipment operation and maintenance practices.
• Knowledge of workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Ability to follow operational procedures and work instructions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A valid heavy equipment operating certification or license will be an added advantage.
